New York, NY February 6, 2013 — Firmly believing that today’s audience is eager to interact with the art they are viewing, VirtualArtsTV announces the launch of a new mobile app, designed to encourage audience engagement in their upcoming live-streamed performing arts festival, The WiredArts Fest. The VirtualArtsTV app encourages interaction and conversation via multiple components, including Social Chat, photo submissions, “Tell A Friend”, and Twitter. Additionally the app has tips for viewing, as well as directions, contact information, program and scheduling, special thanks and links to website sections. VirtualArtsTV worked with FATGirlApps on the development.
The VirtualArtsTV mobile app is available as a free download in the iTunes and Android mobile app stores.
Unlike many performing arts companies VirtualArtsTV believes that performing arts audiences aren’t in decline, they’re online, and that it is crucial that we reach those audiences via the technology they are already using and love. Kathryn Jones, CEO of VirtualArtsTV, says the “the app is designed to deepen the ways audiences interact with the shows, both before, during and after the event.” Additionally the app serves as a digital reminder of upcoming shows via calendar and push notification functions and holds information about every show, and every performer in the festival. The company is confident that this application “further establishes the WiredArts Fest as a first of its kind live-streamed performing arts event.”
In addition to the in-theater audience, VirtualArtsTV’s performances are streamed live, via multiple cameras, so that anyone, anywhere in the world with an internet connection can watch the show, live, and interact with it.
The WiredArts Fest, the first event implementing the app, will feature 14 shows running in repertory over 12 days (February 19th- March 2nd) Performances include Abstract Nude, written by Gwydion Suilebhan, Exit 12 Dance Company, Sartre’s Huis Clos, Die: Roll to Proceed, Les Muses, White With Some Color, Clippings, Alice and Elizabeth’s One Woman Show, S.T.A.R. Theatre At The Directors Company, TITS, Grapefruit, and Words of Choice: Roe at 40.
